OMG. Why is so much disassembly required to oil a fan?! Perhaps one of the most likely parts to fail. Trying my old X61 and the fan is a little noisy. I'll try cleaning it. If I have to do that much disassembly, then maybe better to replace (except maybe no more compatible fans). Also, RadioShack. So sad that they couldn't adapt to keep up with the times.

Why did you put so much thermal paste on there. I hope that thermal paste is not conductive or you may have some problems. Does it require that much?
